Cultural Day at Excel Primary School is a vibrant celebration of diversity and unity. The event brings together students from various backgrounds to honour and showcase the rich tapestry of Malawian culture. The 2024 theme was “Embracing Malawian Heritage: History, Culture and Arts”.
Ms. Manduwi, the Managing Director at the Event.
Students and teachers dressed in traditional attire representing Malawi’s tribes gather and partake in different cultural activities such as dances, poetry, plays and a showcase of Malawian delicacies. Some of the tribes represented by the learners are Yao, Tumbuka, Lhomwe, Ngoni, Sena, and Chewa.

The highlight of the event are the performances by students, who showcase their talents through traditional dances, storytelling, poetry recitals, and musical performances. From the rhythmic beats of drums to the graceful movements of dancers, each presentation celebrates the unique cultural identity of Malawi’s tribes.
Cultural Day plays a vital role in promoting diversity, fostering understanding and tolerance, building community, and nurturing students’ social and emotional development. It serves as a powerful reminder of the richness and beauty of cultural diversity and its importance in shaping a more inclusive and harmonious society.
