Every school has a story. At Excel Primary School, our story began with a passion for education and a belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and reach their potential.
Excel Primary School was established in 2018 by the late Mrs. Lonnie Manduwi, a passionate educator who believed strongly in the power of education to transform children’s lives. Her vision was to create a school where children could receive quality education in a safe and supportive environment.
Mrs. Manduwi poured her passion and dedication into building the school and creating a foundation that would continue to serve children and families for years to come.
Continuing the Legacy
In 2022, Mrs. Manduwi sadly passed away. At the age of just 24, her daughter, Chimango Manduwi, took over the responsibility of running the school.
Taking over a school at such a young age was a significant responsibility. Chimango, a Business Administration graduate and MBA candidate, brought a different perspective to the school. Rather than allowing the challenges of the transition to define the future of Excel, she focused on building on the foundation her mother had created while strengthening the school’s management, systems and long-term vision.
Since 2022, Chimango has continued to lead Excel Primary School with a focus on creating a school that combines quality education, strong management and opportunities for children to thrive in a changing world.
Growing With Our Learners
Today, Excel Primary School provides education from the early years through primary school.
Our preschool programme includes Nursery and Reception, where children develop the foundational skills they need before entering primary school. This includes early literacy, numeracy, social development, motor skills and other important skills for school readiness.
Our primary school runs from Standard 1 to Standard 8, allowing learners to progress through their primary education within the Excel community.
The school is registered with the Ministry of Education and operates as a MANEB examination centre, reflecting our commitment to providing structured and recognised education.

As Excel has grown, four important pillars have remained central to our work:
Affordability of Education
We believe that quality education should be accessible to families. We work to provide an educational environment where children can receive a strong foundation without education becoming unnecessarily out of reach for families.
Digital Skills Empowerment
The world our children are growing into is increasingly digital. We therefore believe that learners need more than traditional academic knowledge. We introduce digital skills to help children become familiar with technology and prepare them for a fast-changing world.
Child Safety
Children learn best when they feel safe, respected and cared for. We place strong emphasis on creating a safe school environment where learners can learn, play and develop with confidence.
Discipline
We believe that discipline is an important part of education. Our aim is to help children develop respect, responsibility, good behaviour and the ability to make positive choices.
A Record of Academic Excellence
Our commitment to education is also reflected in our academic performance.
In 2023, the first group of Excel learners sat for their Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) examinations. The class achieved an impressive 100% pass rate.
What makes this achievement even more meaningful is that the school has maintained a 100% pass rate for four consecutive years.
For us, these results are not simply numbers. They represent the hard work of our learners, teachers and families and the importance of giving children the right foundation and support throughout their education.
More Than a School
Today, Excel Primary School enrols more than 350 learners each academic year.
From the little child learning to hold a pencil for the first time to the Standard 8 learner preparing to take their national examinations, every learner is part of a journey that began with one educator’s passion in 2018.
The school that Mrs. Lonnie Manduwi started continues to grow under the leadership of her daughter. While the school has evolved over the years, the heart of the original vision remains the same: to give children an opportunity to learn, grow and excel.
